First Reading
Ephesians 5:21-33
Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. Wives, submit yourselves unto
your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as
Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore, as the
church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he
might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such
thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. So, ought men to love their wives
as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. For no man ever yet hated
his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: For we are
members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. For this cause shall a man leave his
father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. Nevertheless, let
every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she
reverences her husband.

Revelation 21:1-8
And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were
passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem,
coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with
men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be
with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and
there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more
pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said,
Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, write: for these words are true and
faithful. And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the
end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that
overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But the
fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and
sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with
fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
Gospel
John 3:25-36
Then there arose a question between some of John's disciples and the Jews about
purifying. And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi, he that was with thee
beyond Jordan, to whom thou barest witness, behold, the same baptizeth, and all men
come to him. John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given
him from heaven. Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that
I am sent before him. He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the
bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the
bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled. He must increase, but I must
decrease. He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and
speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all. And what he hath seen
and heard, that he testifieth; and no man receiveth his testimony. He that hath received
his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true. For he whom God hath sent speaketh
the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him. The Father loveth
the Son, and hath given all things into his hand. He that believeth on the Son hath
everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God
abideth on him.
